Robert Van Winkle has called Southwest Florida home since 2003.
Born and raised in Arizona, Robert has served in the United States Navy, spent a year as an exchange student in Germany, graduated with honors from the University of Arizona, lived and worked in Charlottesville, Virginia, and arrived in Florida just 10 months before Hurricane Charley made landfall in 2004. That's significant since Robert moved to Fort Myers to be Chief Meteorologist at WBBH-TV NBC2. Hurricane Charley solidified his reputation as a trusted source for weather forecasts in southwest Florida.
After a 31 year career in television broadcasting Robert retired in 2018 and spent a year in Arizona caring for his mother who was diagnosed with cancer.
Back in Florida and starting a new career in Real Estate, Robert is excited to be part of the John R Wood Real Estate team and help new friends find their home in paradise.
In his spare time Robert can usually be seen outside and working in his yard. He is an avid gardener and enjoys bike riding, shelling on Sanibel, and cruise ship travel whenever he can get away. Speaking of travel ... You can occasionally find Robert working part-time as First Mate on the tourist boats at "Adventures in Paradise" sailing around the beautiful waters of Sanibel and Captiva.
